It gives us great pleasure to introduce our latest collaboration, created to celebrate the 7th edition of Dubai Watch Week, a platform that has long championed independent voices and cross-cultural creativity in watchmaking.
Launched at this year’s fair, the Atelier Wen × Revolution: Ancestra 垚 (Yáo) bridges the artistic worlds of China and the Middle East through a breathtaking fumé grand feu enamel dial and a sculptural case inspired by ancient jade carvings. Available in limited numbers, each piece is made to order.
Atelier Wen brings together independent Chinese craftspeople who specialize in enamel, engraving and case finishing, elevating traditional techniques with modern purpose.
Accordingly, the dial is at the heart of our collaboration, the Atelier Wen × Revolution: Ancestra 垚 (Yáo). It features a warm desert sand-to-chocolate fumé grand feu enamel gradient that required months of work to get just right, as these color tones are notoriously difficult to fire. This challenge shaped the character of Ancestra 垚, resulting in a dial with depth, nuance and a quietly dramatic presence.
Beneath it, a 925 silver base carries a gratté finish — a scratched texture that looks almost woven. It is paired with alternating Eastern Arabic numerals and baguette-cut diamonds, and tri-planed rhodium-plated hands that catch the light.
A Meeting of Craft & Culture
For the case, Atelier Wen turned to the fluid curves of ancient Hongshan jade carvings for inspiration, reinterpreting them in 904L stainless steel. Together with detached lugs that are bolted from the outside, and the careful mix of polished and brushed surfaces, the watch channels a quiet sculptural presence.
Visible through the sapphire caseback is the customized Pequignet EPM03 featuring micro-etched bridges engraved with lines from Tiān Wèn (“Questions to Heaven”), a classical Chinese poem that contemplates purpose and existence.
